Turn Your Eyes
Are your moments filled with waiting?
Waiting for the phone to ring
Waiting for an appointment
Waiting for God’s plan to unfold
Waiting for restored relationships,
Waiting for healing…
I’m sure if you have been there, you know the wait can be painful.
My control freak, box checking, and Type A nature can make waiting excruciating.
But does it have to be?
My pleas to the Lord came across a bit stagnant as they bounced off the silence.
“Umm Lord, it’s me again…”
“I see you, daughter.” John 1:12
“Ok well in case you missed it, I am floundering down here.”
“I see you, daughter.”
“If you see me, can you please intervene?”
“I am in your midst… ” Zephaniah 3:17
“I know you are with me, but I can’t seem to turn off the noise.”
“I am working all things together for your good.” Romans 8:28
“Honestly… I am consumed with the unknown, so I am having a little trouble seeing anything else.”
“Rest in me, daughter. I am moving on your behalf.” Matthew 11:28
“Ok, if you could please clue me in on the process, that would be great.”
“Oh, daughter, don’t lean on your own understanding… It is I who created you with a hyper-awareness to detail.”
“But isn’t that my most negative trait?!”
“I can use it for your good, just breathe.” Psalm 139
“But I don’t like feeling out of control.”
“That’s just it my child, YOU were NEVER in control.”
“I know…open my eyes, Lord.” Psalm 119
“Every time you feel moved by the sound of a child’s laughter, or pause to take pleasure in the birds of the air, or the fragrance of a flower… that’s my Spirit calling you back to what’s most important.”
“Will the wait get any easier?”
“When you shift your gaze back to me…” Psalm 145
O soul are you weary and troubled
No light in the darkness you see
There's light for a look at the Savior
And life more abundant and free
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in his wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace
