Seek First
The rain slowly dissipated.
The lightning no longer streaked through the covered windows.
A faint whisper of thunder could be heard rumbling in the distance.
A new sound pricked my ears as I lay in the stillness of dawn.
A myriad of noises, in fact.
An ever present crescendo could be heard outside my window.
Did they know to seek refuge?
How could they possibly withstand the raging storm swirling in their midst?
Echoes of praise continued as I pondered their ability to triumphantly endure.
Their focus is never divided by the surrounding chaos.
Rather, they remained undeterred in carrying out the purpose set forth by their Creator.
How then, should this revelation impact my response…
to the constant noise,
the never-ending chorus of opinion.
I cried out for refuge, a place to hide as each day carried chaos from every direction.
Then a still small voice whispered to my soul.
“I am right beside you child, I have never left your side.” Deuteronomy 31:6
“I want to make a difference, Lord, help me know what to do and how to pray.”
“Seek first the kingdom, he replied, let me show you the way.”
